Dental Crowns
If you want a smile that is your crowning glory, you may need a dental crown to restore a tooth back to its normal size and shape. At Biederwolf & Burns Family Dentistry we offer many different types of crowns, including all porcelain, porcelain fused to metal, and full cast gold.
A crown is the finest restoration dentistry can offer and is used to protect a weak tooth from breaking, or restore one that has already broken. Like a thimble that fits over your finger, a crown covers the tooth and replaces the missing or weakened tooth structure with metal or porcelain. They are permanently cemented and once in place will look and feel just like a natural tooth.
How long does it take to fit a dental crown?
Fitting a crown requires at least two visits to our office. Initially, we will remove decay, shape the tooth, and fit it with a temporary crown.
On the subsequent visit we will remove the temporary crown, and then fit and adjust the final crown. Finally, we will cement the crown into place and you have a new beautiful looking tooth.
