Root Canal
At Biederwolf & Burns Family Dentistry most root canal procedures are handled “in house” by our qualified Doctors. Root canal therapy is a procedure that allows a patient to keep their tooth even after the nerve has been damaged by infection or trauma. Inside each tooth is the pulp which consists of blood vessels and nerves. This soft tissue runs down the middle of the tooth similar to the way lead travels through the center of a pencil. When the pulp is diseased or injured, the tissue dies and your tooth becomes infected. During a root canal, the pulp is removed and the inside of the tooth is shaped and filled with a soft rubbery material called gutta percha. After the completion of the root canal, a crown is placed to restore the tooth back to full strength. Most of the time a root canal is completed painlessly in one visit with little to no post operative discomfort. Best of all, it can save your tooth and your smile. For a pain free, single visit root canal, Biederwolf & Burns Family Dentistry is the place to get to the “root” of the matter!
